Amplify Her Voice: Terrie Daniel

Amplify Her Voice: Terrie Daniel

KNOW Book + Tribe kicked off a brand new series called Amplify Her Voice. It is a storytelling series focused on amplifying the voices of our Black female business leaders and members. Each day we will be featuring one new KNOW member and they will be sharing their stories and advice.

Meet Terrie Daniel, Vice President of Supplier Diversity with University of South Florida

Terrie is an outstanding leader. We are honored that she spent a few minutes pouring into us at KNOW Tribe. Teri reminds us to stay strong, stay focused, and to keep going. She also reminds us to take care of us – first and foremost. My favorite quote throughout her entire video is: “Sometimes things that we don’t like happen [in order] to make the world a better place.”

It will be the best 8 minutes of your day

More Great Advice from Terrie:

1. Don’t forget about Self Care. “We forget about our wants, forget about our desires, but you have to know that you are important and it is important to make sure that you are taking care of yourself so that you are in a [good] position of power when the rubber meets the road…”

2. Surround yourself with people who celebrate you and celebrate your success“That is so, so important to have people that speak life into you, and that can encourage you, and that can cheer you on when great things are happening. But then also when not so great things are happening as well. So make sure that you’re surrounding yourself with those people that can work into your life…”

3. Don’t shrink back because you’ve made it to the table with people that may not look like you“You have to be comfortable and you have to have enough wherewithal to speak up for what you believe, what you were passionate about…”

4. Prayer changes things. “I want to encourage you today to focus on your spiritual, because it is essential. It is essential in the word of God.”

And Best of All: “We should be lifting each other up and cheering each other on, not trying to outshine one another. The sky would be awfully dark with just one star. We are all stars and shine brighter together!”

Terrie Daniel is featured in KNOW Tampa Volume 2.
