Carrie Barker and Sarah Baucom go way back. We’re talking middle school and high school together in
Charlotte. Despite how frequently their paths crossed, the two never chatted before 2012. At that point, both had achieved professional success in their respective fields – Carrie in architecture and design; Sarah in Construction + Interior Design. As well, both were creative entrepreneurs having launched their respective companies. In 2014, they combined forces to launch Girl Tribe. Girl Tribe was born with one undeniably-strong message: support women-owned businesses for each other, with each other. Girl Tribe lassoes the power, energy, and chutzpah of the female,
creative entrepreneur who make things happen – whether its funding, managing employees, or working through the
daily nuances of owning their own business. The two hosted the first Girl Tribe Pop Up in 2015 across the
southeast in cities, such as Charlotte, Raleigh, Greenville, Atlanta, and Nashville. Every event averages 100+
retailers, 3000 customers/traffic at each event, approximately $400K+ in revenue for the vendors and a cultural
footprint with the power to shift women in business around the world.
